SALT LAKE CITY, UT—A delicious dinner in a beautiful hotel
with your favorite authors—what more can you ask for? How
about a murder—or two murders! On Friday, September 29,
Covenant Communications will host its third annual Murder Mystery
Dinner: Until Death Do We Part at the Holiday Inn Downtown, 999
S. Main Street, Salt Lake City.
Nineteen of Covenant’s top fiction writers will gather
to act out a murder mystery involving characters from each of
their books. Each author and other selected individuals will become
a suspect in the murder, and it will be up to the guests to uncover
the murderer before he or she can strike again.
“This year’s writing and directing team for the mystery
dinner couldn’t be better,” said Melissa Dalton, publicist
for Covenant Communications. “We have two of the best writers
in this market, Gale Sears and Kerry Blair, and Gale even has
a master’s degree in theater.”
Kerry Blair, author of the mystery Mummy’s the Word, is
the creative mind behind the murder plot. She has taken characters
from each book and crafted an intriguing mystery. Gale Sears,
author of the historical novel Until the Dawn, will do staging
and assist in directing the performance.
“It’s been challenging taking characters from so many
different time eras and bringing them together for this fateful
event,” said Blair. “We had to come up with a creative
way for characters from the past to make it to an event in present
day, and I think we did it! I hope everyone enjoys solving the
mystery as much as I enjoyed writing it.”
Besides an enjoyable mystery, there will also be contests, prizes,
live music, and giveaways. A reception where the authors will
be signing books from 5:00 to 6:30 PM will kick off the evening.
Guests will also have a chance to get their picture taken with
Elvis, and enjoy live music from the hit new country band Joshua
Creek. Participating authors include Anita Stansfield, Annette
Lyon, Betsy Brannon Green, Clair Poulson, C.K. Bailey, Gale Sears,
H.B. Moore, Jeffrey Savage, Jennie Hansen, Jerry Borrowman, K.L.
Fogg, Kerri Robinson, Kerry Blair, Marcie Gallacher, Michele Ashman
Bell, Robison Wells, Sonia O’Brien, Tom Roulstone, and Toni
Sorenson Brown.
Performing in front of a crowd will be a new experience for most
of these authors. However, Michele Ashman Bell, author of the
new novel Perfect Timing, participated in the mystery dinner last
year. “Last year I played a villainous movie star from one
of Betsy Brannon Green’s books, and it was a riot! I got
to wear one of my daughter’s pageant gowns, a wig, and even
fake eyelashes. I was quite surprised when I ended up the murderer!”
said Bell.
Tickets for the dinner are $24 and can be purchased at Seagull
Book and Tape through September 22. No tickets will be sold at
the door and tickets sell out fast. For more information, go to
