“For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them, and writeth them for the learning and the profit of my children” (2 Ne.4:15).
You will be fascinated by this compelling story of the miraculous events that led to the creation and publication of the modern version of the complete standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It chronicles the monumental project initiatedin 1972 to publish an LDS edition of the King James Bible and the subsequent revisions of other Church scriptures to include cross referencing footnotes and many other beneficial study aids. This documentary film shows how the hand of the Lord was evident throughout the process as the pains taking work was performed by some of the greatest scholars of this dispensation under the direction of prophets, seers, and revelators. In President Thomas S. Monson’s observations included in the film, he states, “More people have studied the scriptures, more people have carried the scriptures, and more people have been taught the scriptures and understand the scriptures as a result of the work we’re talking about.
”This program will bring greater appreciation for the inspired efforts that have helped Latter-day Saints better understand God’s words through cross-referencing footnotes that link all of the standard works, the addition of the Joseph Smith Translation, and other improved study tools such as maps, chapter headings, and topical guides. What remains for us is to make use of these sacred resources to enhance our understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ and to solidify our testimonies, “that every man might speak in the name of God, the Lord. ”DVD.
