Abinadi: An Original Musical Drama
Abinadi has all of the elements of great musical drama. Start with an incredible story of action and intrigue. Wicked king Noah rules his people with tyranny. Along comes a fearless prophet (Abinadi), preaching repentance with the threat of being burned at the stake. Add in other characters: an evil priest (Alma), who is converted to the light and finds redemption, and a captain of the guard (Gideon), who serves his king until he realizes just how truly evil he is. of course no drama would be complete without some beautiful women who influence the men and the action of the story. Top it off with the wicked king himself being burned at the stake by the people he has betrayed, and you´è_ve got a great tale. Finally, if you surround it all with original music played by the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra and sung by talented voices, you have a great musical drama. Through Abinadi you will experience a classic Book of Mormon story in a whole new light. A Production of the BYU School of Music.
