German Apple Fritter 4-5 medium apples, peeled and cored 2 C. flour 3 tsp. baking powder _ C. sugar 1 egg

2 Tbsp. oil Dash of salt 1 C. milk Oil for frying Cinnamon-sugar mixture

Slice apples into _-inch slices. Blend flour, baking powder, sugar, egg, 2 Tbsp. oil, salt, and milk. Batter should be smooth and of good dropping consistency; add more milk if necessary. Dip apple slices into batter and put into skillet with _ inch or more of hot oil. Fry fritters quickly until golden brown on both sides; remove from oil and drain. While still hot, sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Serve either hot or cold, but be prepared-they may not have a chance to get cold!

I got this recipe from my husband’s grandmother, Taylorsville, Utah who came from Germany. It was used often in her parents’ home, her own home, and now my home.
